Collection: Polina Verbytska

In her work, Polina boldly explores the notions of death and destruction on both physical and mental plains. The bodies that she brings to life — they decompose, merge with other living things to form a single being, and turn into the seedbeds that are caring steads for the emerging life.

- Polina Kuznetsova

I like combining the drama of Baroque with the ruthless objectivity of twentieth-century artists’ depiction of the human body. Initially, I aspired to hyperrealism; now I seek a certain simplification, plasticity, a sense rather than a portrait.

I don't think it's possible to call oneself unique in today's world—everything has already been done. Perhaps my peculiarity lies in my attempt to bring to the surface and show the beauty of things that are usually not considered beautiful. I enjoy the dark confusion of the subconscious world of a person, and I strive to evoke emotion and sensation rather than tell a story
